Paulette Richards

Most of my research has focused on representations of women and African Americans in popular media.  I am especially interested in examining how African Americans have chosen to represent themselves among themselves.  Thus my book on Terry McMillan (Greenwood Press, 1999) explores how McMillan’s work tapped into an imagined community of African American women readers.
